The Chaos of Longing – k. y. robinson Book Review

People commonly advise not to judge a book by its cover, but come on! I understand the idea of never judging a character by physical looks and I definitely agree with ideology, but when it comes to books we have to judge it by the cover to an extent. How else would we choose? While browsing Amazon, I came across this pink book with hanging roses and noticed the word chaos in the title. The book instantly attracted me with those two simple things. Whenever choosing this to read, I didn’t know it was a book of poetry. With the amount of poetry books I’ve been reading, I feel as if I’m becoming more critical of others writing. I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing because I don’t consider myself to be good at writing. However, I know that I can voice what I do and don’t like about a book without having an expertise in writing.

Anyway, I read this book shortly after Milk & Honey and I must say I adored Robinson’s writing in comparison to Rupi Kaur’s…

…I found ‘The Chaos of Longing’ to have prettier word usage and to be highly more relatable. I also found myself wanting more from ‘The Chaos of Longing’. The book didn’t end abruptly or anything, I just was like.. that’s it? I wanted more! I guess I should look into Robinson and see if she has any other books. I don’t know if I will start discussing the books I read more throughly on my blog, but right now I think I am just going to say whether or not I recommend the read. That way, I don’t spoil anything for anyone and can just share my favorite quotes from the books. We will see how long I keep up with this format though. I definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone! It’s a quick story about love and pain in a relationship.

Some of my favorite quotes from the book:

There’s a book by Gary Paulsen, titled Hatchet. You should read that when you get a chance. Pretty much the same as the book you reviewed. Actually, I might be think of Where the Red Fern Grows…
