There are many ways to treat disease or illness and I’m a firm believer in a person being able to heal holistically. This means, I believe holistic healing can cure the most deadliest diseases, such as cancer and AIDS. To some of you, this idea may sound absolutely crazy. Trust me, a few years ago, I wouldn’t have believed or listened about holistic healing either. However, because of the growth of alternative medicine I’ve struck an extreme interest in it. This interest has allowed me to study and explore the possibilities beyond conventional medicine.
This interest doesn’t mean I don’t use or believe in conventional medicine! It simply means I believe there are various forms of healing. It’s up to the person to choose how they’d like to cope or heal with their illness. There is no wrong or right way. I’d like to share why I think others should be more open to holistic healing hence the blog post. Holistic medicine is a ‘form of healing that considers the whole person — body, mind, spirit, and emotions in the quest for optimal health and wellness’. There’s a huge difference between conventional medicine and holistic medicine! Holistic medicine isn’t just about sniffing herbs and doing yoga.. please don’t be fooled by stereotypes.
What’s the difference between Holistic & Conventional medicine?
Holistic medicine involves finding and healing the cause of condition rather than solely alleviating the symptoms. Holistic treatments are based off lifestyle factors and medicinal factors that might be contributing to an illness. Holistic healers can administer conventional medicine but their focus is mainly through natural healing treatments.
The philosophy behind holistic medicine is to maintain or gain proper balance in life. If your health is malfunctioning physically, emotionally, or spiritually it creates an imbalance in overall health. With holistic medicine, we view illness or disease as an imbalance. This imbalance is NOT based around the “chemical imbalance theory“. The holistic imbalance is the idea of a human being made up of different parts that all connect in order to maintain health. When one part is ill, the other parts also begin to struggle.

Modern medicine is designed to treat specific illness and not promote optimal health. Think about all the different types of specialist in conventional medicine such as heart, brain doctors, foot, lungs and more. When seeing a specialist, they typically focus on one aspect of the body. Specialist may then be seen as not addressing the entire health of the patient. After being treated with conventional medicine illness or disease may come back more often due to lack of balanced health practices.
Knowing Your Options

An individual has the choice of treatment with their illness. For some, we’re unaware of how many choices we actually have. Parents teach us how to care for ourselves and we use that knowledge for the rest of our lives. Parents often teach home remedies but they also instruct when one should seek medical care. Unfortunately, medical care we’re taught to seek by our parents may not always be the best option! Growing up, our parents also might’ve not known all medical care options outside of heavily popularized and normalized treatments. When ideas are more widely accepted, we as a society trust that acknowledgement. For example, how many times in your life have you heard to treat an upset stomach with gingerale or sprite? As a child, I knew that it wasn’t helping my stomach but drinking a soda boosted my mood. Now that I look back on it, it was probably just the sugar!
Everyone has issues but knowing how to go about solving them is different for each individual. Because there are a variety of ways to treat disease and illness, there is little evidence in what may be the best suitable option. The best option is to find a permanent solution to sickness and maintain overall health! Using pharmaceutical drugs is not always a permanent solution. Without any form of holistic healing being applied the patient will always be dependent on medicine for functionality or relief. Therefor, never being fully cured or maintaining overall health.

Consider Holistic Healing
Holistic medicine is considered alternative medicine in the United States but is normalized and widely used all over the world today. Many people who question holistic healing are typically uninformed or misinformed. Holistic healing is rapidly growing and becoming more popular because of our current health crises in the United States.
Alternative medicines are that they are typically less expensive and don’t require insurance. It’s important to do research before seeking any medical treatment.
